On 13th March 2025, EU FET OPEN PRIME was showcased to over 1,000 female students from across the south east of Ireland, at a fantastic ‘Women in Technology’ event held by South East Technological University at SETU Arena.
PRIME has several senior female researchers at the helm of the project, represented at this event by Walton Institute at SETU’s Post Doctoral Researchers Dr Hafsah Ahmad and Dr Sumaira Malik and PhD Research Student Aiman Khalil. All three work on the PRIME project within the Emerging Networks Laboratory (ENL) group at Walton Institute, SETU, and at this event presented a poster demonstrating their PRIME research, and shared their experience working as women in STEM research with inquisitive secondary school students interested in working in science and technology.
Walton Institute was one of 25 technology companies that exhibited at this event, with female representatives discussing their careers, and guest speakers Kim Mackenzie-Doyle FIDI CEO of The Big Idea – Ireland and Sarah Adderley of Unum Ireland sharing their experiences working in the tech industry in Ireland.
It was an inspirational day in the south east of Ireland to see much interest in the area of STEM from our young women.
